Hello Dear Reader

Has enough water passed under the bridge since July? Or are you still polled out? (US and Irish readers, my apologies if any mention of a poll is a tad too triggering at the current time.) Because today, I am writing to you with not one, but two whole polls, both of a festive nature, one not remotely important and one slightly important to me so that I might juggle my diary according to your wishes.

If you watch my Only the Old Songs series on Youtube you will have heard me mention my plan to offer you a Christmas live stream in the coming days. It would be for around an hour, and I will sing you Christmas songs, some of which you are free to request in a message or comment.

Because December is the month where we squeeze an entire year’s worth of socialising into four slender weeks, groaning under the pressure of enforced jollity and exotic beverages, I thought it best to offer you a choice of dates, and to go with whichever one proves most popular. Due to various time zones, in the past when we have done these, 8pm seems to work best for people scattered from LA to Auckland with Europe in between. So, from the following options, please let me know which one works best for you:

The live stream will of course be free, as it always has been and always shall be.

I promised you a second poll and this one is just for my own childish amusement.

Listen, you always knew I was basic, so save your griping. You should know me well enough by now.

I’m now in the festive mood after successfully scaring the bejesus out of myself in 2024, the final bit of which was last Monday evening. I cannot thank you enough if you came to the I Digress shows and listened to my stories (and a few songs). I had no idea whether the words on the page would come to life, or whether they just looked nice and made sense in black and white. There is nothing I love more than making you laugh or making sure you come in from out of the cold into a theatre and leave feeling a little better. That’s my job, and I have the best bloody job in the world. Thank you all for keeping me gainfully employed.
