Hello
I felt very seen this week when I heard about Beyhan Mutlu, a Turkish dude who got drunk and passed out in a forest for long enough that his loved ones raised the alarm and search parties hastily assembled. Oblivious to the panic caused by his over-imbibing, Mutlu arose from his stupor and, in what one might describe as serendipity or sheer stupidity, attached himself to the back of a group of people wandering the forest - this group being his own search party. It was only when he heard his name being called out that Mutlu thought to inform the group that it was him they were looking for. Here our paths would have diverged. Had it been me, I would have probably spent a good ten minutes calling out my own name along with them before realising it was my actual name.
I am discombobulated kids, but in the best way. It is a strange and wonderful feeling to be out on the road - fuel shortage notwithstanding - and seeing so many happy faces up and down the land. In the last year I’ve felt a bit like a piece of cheese, the kind you get in hamburgers, slowly dissolving under the sesame bun of life. It had got to the point that every day I would go for a walk past my neighbours’ house and every day I would slow down to say hello to the same rock that I thought was a Spaniel and every day I would remember it was not a Spaniel two seconds too late.
Today I walked past the neighbours' without slowing down because I knew it was not a Spaniel. I don’t mean to get ahead of myself or anything, but world domination beckons now.
If you can’t make one of the gigs, but would like a copy of ‘Best in Show’ - the CD compilation of my covers from last year’s Lockdown Sessions - these are now available from my merch store .
If you want to see me live in the UK, but haven’t until now been organised enough to do something about it, tickets are still available here:
October 15th Cambridge - Portland Arms
October 18th Camberley Theatre
October 23rd Arlington Arts Centre
October 25th Milton Keynes - The Stables
November 16th Newcastle - Wylam Brewery
November 17th Manchester - YES
November 18th York - National Centre for Early Music
November 19th Glasgow - Oran Mor
And that, my friends, is all for now.
It has been such a deep joy to see you in person at the shows so far. Thank you.
Love, Nerina x
