Hello Dear Reader
Thank you all for completing last week’s poll. Results are in, and, as the majority of you plumped for 8pm GMT this Sunday 22nd December, that is when it shall be. To watch, just go here to my YouTube channel where the link should go live a few minutes before the start time. I’ve made a note of your song requests and cover suggestions, and shall do my best to oblige. Do keep them coming as there’s still a few days left for me to learn or revisit any I’m not too familiar with.
The eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that there hasn’t been an episode of Only the Old Songs today - and this is because I have a slightly different one planned that I thought would be better posted on Christmas Eve so you can enjoy it at your leisure over the holidays in those moments where you need to escape your family.
I would like to write more, but I’ve made the fatal mistake of sampling the homemade Sloe Gin my husband has been fermenting since September, while he’s out at an axe throwing event. The sun goes over the yardarm so very early now and it was foolish of me to forget this with a newsletter still to be written, but as I finally finished writing all my Christmas cards, I got rather ahead of myself this afternoon.
Perhaps the fellow self-employed reading this will sympathise; perhaps you too are holding an office Christmas party with your cat. I bought a new printer this month - a Canon TS3355 I have named Colin - and I just welcomed him as the newest member of staff to what I hope will be a long and fruitful working relationship. If Colin is still here this time next year, I shall no doubt be handing him a carriage clock in recognition of a whole lifetime of faithful service. We shall see.
So for now, I bid you adieu, and hope to see you this Sunday evening for some songs and festive merriment. Stay tuned for one final newsletter of 2024 next week, and in the meantime, have a wonderful week.
With love as ever,
Nerina xxx
I’m Walking Backwards for Christmas? There’s a challenge for you!
The phrase " my husband has been fermenting since September" belongs in one of your clever ditties. Merry Christmas to you and yours!🌲🌹🇨🇦
